In a unexpected crossover event that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine sect.

The questline focuses on "bizarre trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Content

Players who finish the quest will receive an special katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Partnerships

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
